FEAD Middle School

Grade 1 & 2 - Approximately 8 to 11 years

Once children move into Grade 1, they study ballet, tap and modern every week and also attend class for a little longer. The expectations are once again raised but enjoyment remains at the heart of our lessons. If the children love what they are learning, it doesn’t feel like hard work!

When children move into grade 2 they study an hour of each subject, which means that they attend class twice a week. There is always such a lot to learn in the middle school, but this is where we build solid foundations and technique for when dance becomes much more physically demanding.

Many pupils study other subjects within the school and take the opportunity to gain dance experience through our extra curricular opportunities. In doing so, we see rapid growth and progress in the middle school pupils.

Children and their families are welcome to join us at many community events as part of Team FEAD. There also lots of lovely extras that our pupils can take part in to enhance their dance experience within the school.

Fun Facts for Middle School

Our summer picnic on the Westwood is always lovely and pupils young and old play sports together and the grown-ups chill and chat.

Our fabulously fun summer school is open to all school-aged pupils. They love this event and of course, build strong friendships in the process.

Our bi-annual, whole school show is a true spectacle for all the family to enjoy and this is the highlight for middle school pupils! When the pupils are in grade 1 they do 2 routines in our show and once they reach grade 2 they do a routine for each subject - much to the delight of the children!

“Can You Dance?” conventions are an annual event within the school pupils can take part in masterclasses with industry professionals in various different styles. Look out for information on these events as we find they are great at boosting confidence and inspiring our pupils.

We run open classes for the whole school roughly every term, so that families can watch a typical lesson and see how their child is progressing and enjoying their training.

We also run regular theatre visits for pupils and they always love coming to these events with their Academy family. A big variety of musicals and ballets are always on our list.
